Lloyd Leon Edwards

Lloyd Leon Edwards, age 93, went home to see his beloved Savior on February 21, 2026, while residing at Regent Park Assisted Living in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born January 11, 1933, in Long Beach, Missouri, and was the only child of the late Alfred and Betty Edwards.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean Edwards of Wichita, Kansas; his sons, Lloyd (Annette) Leon Edwards II of Wichita, Kansas, and Howard (Amy) Edwards of Wichita, Kansas; and his daughter, Melanie (Rob) Bray of Castalian Springs, Tennessee. Twelve grandchildren: Lloyd (Alyssa) Leon Edwards III, Zachary Edwards, Holly Edwards, Isaac (Avery) Edwards, Hope (Dillon) Etter, Sydney Edwards, Lane (Hanna - fiancée) Edwards, Tobias (Alyssa) Edwards, Lydia Edwards, Rob Bray IV, Katarina (Chris) Frazier, and Cody Bray. Two great-grandsons: Rowan Edwards and Stetson Frazier.

He attended the University of Wichita, where he was part of the ROTC. After graduating with his Mechanical Engineering degree in 1956, he served his country as an officer in the Air Force for two years. He worked at Boeing, Learjet, and the FAA in the propulsion division, eventually becoming a manager.

When Leon was in college, a friend invited him to church. He kept attending and understood he was a sinner in need of a Savior. He asked Jesus to forgive him of his sins. God forgave his sins and saved him. From that time on, Leon was a dedicated follower of Christ.

His love for hunting, fishing, and being outdoors led to lifelong friendships and lots of stories, most of them believable.

He lived with purpose, taking care of his family and serving faithfully as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School worker, and a charter member of Metropolitan Baptist Church.

How do you capture the essence of a man who lived life devoted to those who called him husband, dad, or grandpa? He was a servant leader in his family, praying for everyone every day because he knew only God could give the wisdom needed as they walked through life. His one desire was for everyone to have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Fortunately, we are blessed with many memories of him to carry forever in our hearts.

In place of flowers, the family requests donations to Embrace, Navigators, or Youth Horizons.

His funeral will be Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Broadway Mortuary in Wichita, Kansas.
