Lonneta L. Madden, was born March 27, 1949, to L.A. Decker and Opal Clark in Anadarko, Oklahoma. She peacefully left us on Monday, May 12, 2025. She moved to Wichita with her mother and brother after her father's death when Lonneta was 3. While in Wichita, Opal (mother) met and married Lonneta's stepfather, Oric Neelly.
Lonneta graduated from Wichita West High School and attended Wichita State University for 2 years. After leaving college, she began her banking career at Bank IV. She retired from banking after 40 years of service.
Lonneta loved creating beautiful things through her love of stained glass art, sewing, and needlepoint. She would see a dress she liked, cut out the pattern from newspaper, sew it together, and wear it out that night. She was also a talented baker and candy maker. To relax before work everyday, she would have her coffee while completing the New York Times crossword puzzle.
Her personal style was unique. She was always well put together from her hair, make-up and clothes, including her collection of high heels and jewelry.
Lonneta's thoughtfulness in remembering special dates with cards, homemade gifts, and handwritten notes made family and friends feel cared for.
She will remain in our hearts, remembering her style and sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her father, L.A. Decker; brother, William E. Decker; and stepfather, Oric Neelly.
Survivors include her son, Nicholas Madden; mother, Opal Neelly; half-sisters Rebecca Neelly (Kim Hutson) and Brenda Black (David); nieces, Jessica, Danielle, and Libby; and sister-in-law, Suzanne Decker.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held.
