Lorene Wolf

September 9, 1936 — February 20, 2018

On September 9, 1936 our world became a much better place. You see, that is the day Nadine Smith was born to Della Lorene Smith and Charly T. Smith in the small town of Milberger, Kansas. Nadine, as she loved to be known, was the first of eight children to bless this large and loving Smith family.  Her siblings were Bill, Curtis, Dean, Ruth Ann, Kay, Linda, and Claudia. Many stories were shared of their rural lives as Nadine, being the first born, perfected her domestic skills helping her parents with the many chores of a large family. When Nadine left the family home and moved to Wichita, Ks, she met and fell in love with Willard “Roy” Wolf.  They were married on January 14, 1961 and began their own family with the birth of David Kent and Gregory Dean. Two loving sons, much like their parents with generous and caring hearts.  David and Greg always put their Mom and Dad first and remained very close even though separated by distance, as Greg lives in Iowa. Nadine and Roy enjoyed the blessing of two grandchildren from their son Greg and his wife Nancy. Jesse Dean and Kathryn (Katie) Jane have enriched their lives immensely.  Having the opportunity to share in their many accomplishments as they grew up was such a source of pride for their family.   Nadine and Roy also claim a third grandchild, Brett Sharpe. Brett and his family, who live just next door, were blessed to have Nadine and Roy as caregivers to Brett his entire life.  Often times this little neighbor would much rather stay at Ma-Maw and Grandpa’s house then his own, especially at mealtimes. Nadine and Roy are longtime members of Messiah Baptist Church, now known as New Spring Church. Their church family has always embraced the Wolf family and continue to hold them close during their difficult times. Mere thanks cannot express the gratitude the family feels for the outpouring of love and support their many friends have given to Nadine and Roy especially as Roy and his sons lovingly cared for Nadine during her final journey. In closing, please continue to remember Lorene “Nadine” Smith Wolf for the wonderful person she was.  Whether it be her fabulous peanut brittle, the awesome trail mix, or those date pinwheel cookies. Remember her well and often.  Many of our memories will not be the things we can taste or touch, but the gentleness of her unconditional smile, or the quiet laugh with a twinkle in her eyes that reflected a kindness and grace placed there by a good and loving God.  You see, Nadine has not left us, she lives deep inside our hearts forever. September 9,1936 the day our world indeed became a better place with the birth of Nadine. . .and February 20, 2018, the day heaven received another precious angel!  Rest in peace dear Nadine, we love you.
