Lyonel Benoit-Rock, 75 of Wichita, died March 26, 2026 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital. He was born August 10, 1950 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti to the late Oriental Benoit and Margaret Rock.

Lyonel graduated from the School of Medicine in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. He did a fellowship in Guyana and he did another fellowship in Pueblo, Mexico. He is a US Citizen. He did his first residency as a Psychiatrist in Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, New York. He was a Psychiatrist, He worked at Memnat Hospital in Rome, Utica and Syracuse, New York. His family including himself moved to Kansas in 2003. He continued to work as a Psychiatrist at Larned State Hospital from 2003-2007. He also worked at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS as a Psychiatrist from 2007-2009. He worked at Horizon Mental Center in Hutchinson, KS as a Psychiatrist, he even worked at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center from 2009-2012.

On August 10, 1992, Lyonel married Maria Carmen Sanchez at a Catholic Church in Salamonca Guanajuato, Mexico. His wife Maria survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Delia Benoit or Wichita; sister, Jeanne Rock; nephews, Alain and David and niece, Judith. Other family members also survive him, Roosevelt Benoit, Elda Benoit and Marcel Benoit. Lyonel was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Benoit who passed away in 2023.

Lyonel was a member of the Church of the Magdalen in Wichita, KS. He liked to dance, listen to music from his country, enjoyed cooking, walking outside and drinking his favorite soda, Coca-Cola.
