Marjorie Guenther

Marjorie Ann Guenther, 93, of Olathe, Kansas joined her Lord Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

Born April 14, 1930, in Reading, Kansas, the daughter of Hezie and Emma (Barnett) Bibbee, Marjorie spent her early years in Reading, Charleston W. Virginia, and Lyndon, Kansas. After graduating from Lyndon High School, she attended Emporia State University Teachers College and taught school before relocating to Wichita, Kansas. Marjorie graduated from Wichita State University and spent her working years in Wichita both in the teaching and secretarial fields. She especially enjoyed music, attending Wichita Symphony concerts, band performances, and listening to church hymns. Her most important decision in life was accepting Jesus as her Savior and Lord, as she grew, learned and served during her many years at Immanuel Baptist Church in Wichita, and later joining Overland Park Baptist Temple in Overland Park, Kansas. She also enjoyed travel in both the US and foreign countries, to experience and learn, seeing different cultures and customs. Moving to the Santa Marta Retirement Community in Olathe, Kansas, she would continue to learn much about our world visiting with excellent caregivers from Africa and other distant lands.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Lawrence, in 2006, her parents, and her sister Betty Vanderslice. She is survived by daughter Linda Nichols of Gladstone, MO, son Michael Guenther of Bradenton, FL, and grandson Ryan Nichols of Kansas City, MO, along with many dear nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 12th at 2:00 pm at Broadway Mortuary 1147 S. Broadway Wichita, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Wichita, KS and Overland Park Baptist Temple Overland Park, KS.
