Mark Wesley Aberle reposed in the Lord in the early morning hours of December 11, 2025 in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 77. In the weeks before his passing he was lovingly surrounded by his wife, children, and family.
He was born July 18, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Henry M. Aberle and Deborah Farney Aberle. Raised in Wichita, he later transferred to Kiowa High School, living on the Farney family farm alongside the cousins he counted as brothers. In Kiowa, he met Janice Betty, whom he married in 1969. Together, they moved to Wichita and raised two children, Chris and Shannon. After graduating from Wichita State University, he had a long and rewarding career in respiratory therapy and medical sales. He is remembered by patients and colleagues for his compassionate care and expertise. As a parent and grandparent, he created endless adventures with hiking and camping along Colorado trails. These memories will always be a special gift to family. He was blessed by God with the community at his church of fifty years, Holy Cross Lutheran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Deborah Aberle, and his grandsons, Matthew and Michael Aberle.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice Carrol Aberle; his two children, Mark Christopher Aberle (Kristen) of Wichita and Shannon Denise Ijams of Tulsa, OK; sisters Ann Michelle Aberle (Stephen Adams) and Denise Ru Aberle (John Adams); grandchildren, Rachel Ijams, Nathaniel Ijams, Joseph Ijams, and Evelyn Aberle; nieces, Kathryn Adams, Kellyn Adams, Wesley Adams, and Anne Aberle; and many wonderful Aberle and Farney cousins.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wichita, KS. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Kiowa, KS.
