Mark Bloomquist

 1966-2026

 Mark Bloomquist, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on September 1st 2026 at the age of 60.

 Mark, who was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, always cherished his hometown and was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan. He had a wide range of interests, a strong sense of adventure, and a real appreciation for creating lasting memories. Mark also had a wonderful sense of humor. From a young age, he was the comic relief at every church where his father, George, was the minister-a trait that brought laughter and joy to everyone around him throughout his life.

 During his high school years at Pattonville High School in Maryland Heights, Missouri, Mark was the drum major of the marching band and enjoyed playing trumpet in both concert and jazz band. One of the highlights of his years as drum major came in 1985, when he marched in the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington, D.C.

 Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from John Brown University. Following college graduation, he was accepted into the Wichita Police Academy and began his law-enforcement career as a beat officer with the Wichita Police Department. Mark ultimately retired from the Wichita Police Department as a detective, having devoted many years to public service.

 Mark's love of adventure included cave spelunking, exploring spots like the Garden of the Gods, riding the train at the Royal Gorge and Joyland's roller coaster. He also enjoyed visiting his cousins at South Padre Island, and high energy fun such as Cosmic Bowling at the Thunderbird Bowling Center.

 Mark is survived by his daughters, Breck Bloomquist and Taylor Bloomquist; his father, Dr. George Bloomquist; his brother, Phil (Erika) Bloomquist; his nephew, Lars Bloomquist; and David Browning of Bridgeton, Missouri, who was an honorary brother to both Mark and Phil and an important part of Mark's life.

 He was preceded in death by his mother, Kay Bloomquist (1936-2023).

 There is comfort for all in the promise of Scripture: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." - Psalm 34:18

 Even though we're deeply saddened by Mark's passing and the void he leaves behind, we're grateful for the time we spent together, the memories we've made, and the love that still lives on.
