Michael Gibson

Michael opened Gibson & Mancini Architectural Firm in 1970 later expanding to Gibson, Mancini, Carmichael & Nelson in Garden City, KS. He designed many hospitals, churches and schools throughout Southwest Kansas including Southwind Country Club.

Mick was an avid book reader, hot air balloonist, downhill skier, golfer and the last known connoisseur of J&B Scotch.

His passion, his love, his life revolved around his wife, sister, children, grand children, great grands and many beloved friends. Oh, how he loved to hold and pace the babies in the family. He had many fond memories of his loving parents and the entire community of his childhood stomping grounds in Gaylord, KS. Those of you who knew Dolly Pards and Pebbles know that he had a particularly tender place in his heart for furry friends.

Mick was adamant about NOT wanting a funeral so we are throwing him a party where food and drinks will be served and memories shared. Michael Craig Gibson, 82, passed away August 7, 2022. Celebration of life party will be from 4-9pm, Friday, September 30th, at the home of Kip and Kris Unruh. Mick is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Beulah Gibson. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Darlene Gibson; son, Kurt (Kim) Gibson; daughter, Kris (Kip) Unruh; sister, Niki Rubow; niece, Sarah Rubow; nephew, Nathan Rubow; grandchildren, Caleb Unruh, Sam Unruh, Annie Gill, Elle Benage, Sarah Lopez, Eli Unruh, Lexi Bornhorst, Gabi Gibson, and 23 great-grandchildren.
