Michelle Horne

July 29, 1970 — October 9, 2020

My sweet wife Michelle,

Michelle, my love, we always talked about how we could handle anything between the kisses.  So much so, I put our ‘motto’ down in verse...

The first kiss of the morning….the last kiss of the day….
“Those 2 kisses rule my forever.
Bookend to the day that tells me
That we can,
That we are safe,
The kisses that tell me this love
Our love
Is impervious to life between the kisses”
What I never expected in a million years was what would come after I kissed you good night on Friday October 9th, 2020. That was the last kiss of the day, we were safe, we had survived another day.  Yet, God needed you before I could kiss you again the next morning.  As I try to understand why, Beckee shared this with me and it gives me what we always had, what fueled our love, it gives me HOPE.
Till I can kiss you again.
Your Husband,
Ian
GONE FROM SIGHT
By Henry Van Dyke
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
And that is dying...
