Milton "Butch" L. Devenney, 83, passed away surrounded by family on May 8, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas.

Butch joined the Marines in 1960 where he served his country at the start of the Vietnam War. During his service, he learned to drive a truck. After the Marines, he started his 35-year career as an over the road trucker. He would haul anything from heavy machinery to produce. The stories he would tell were simply amazing. In 1991, Butch moved to Wichita, KS and started life as a mechanic, where he would later retire in 2012.

Butch had a love for NASCAR. He traveled all over the country in the motor home spending weeks at a time watching qualifying, the truck races, the Busch series races and rounding out his weekend out with his beloved NASCAR race. The icing on the cake was when the races were close to loved ones and friends that he could stop by and see.

Butch was preceded in death by his father, George Devenney; his mother, Fraidie Scott; and his daughter, Cherri Dorsett.

He is survived by a loving and extended family that will miss him greatly, including his daughter, Teresa Elrod of Hot Springs, AR; his grandson, Art (Shelby) Martinez of Hot Springs, AR; his granddaughter, Angel (Jeremy Ferrand) Martinez of Hot Springs, AR; his sister, Georgia Ann (DeWitt) Weddle of Eloy, AZ; his brother, Jim (Kathy) Devenney of Flagstaff, AZ; his nephew, Kirk (Jacque) Weddle of Arizona City, AZ; his nephew, Kelly (Monique) Weddle of Toltec, AZ; his niece, Shannon (Rick) Rundquist of Winslow, AZ; his niece, Ashley (Russ) Furstnow of Flagstaff, AZ; his nephew, James (Elizabeth) Devenney of Flagstaff, AZ ; 3 daughters of AL; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 12 great nieces and nephews; and bonus family, Patrick Dorsett; Carolyn (Wayne) Taylor; Debbie (Chad Wondra) Woolbright; Chloe Woolbright; Chance Dorsett.

Butch chose cremation, with a private family service and scattering to occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite Veterans charity or to Kyle Petty's Victory Junction.

We take comfort knowing he is now reunited with loved ones. Jump in that truck, open it up, avoid those scales, and take in all those beautiful sights.
