Minnie Ellen Henline, 96, retired Via Christi St. Joseph PBX operator, passed
away Saturday, January 7, 2023. Minnie was born November 20, 1926 in
Ringwood, OK to Walter and Ruth (Detrick) Stricker. She went to school in
Ringwood graduating in 1945. Her family was quite poor and she recalled how
excited she was one Christmas just to receive a single doll. On another year she
recalled receiving a rocking chair that her father had made for her. During her
senior year she worked at a dress shop to earn money to purchase a senior
graduation dress. On March 9, 1946 at age 20 she married her high school
sweetheart Billy R. Henline who was at that time serving in the US Army. They
remained happily married for 68 years raising a family until Billy’s death in 2014.
They were charter members of the St Luke Presbyterian Church where they
attended until their health declined. She was very active in the church serving as
a Sunday School teacher, choir member, member of board of trustees, Pairs n’
Spares social group, and much, much more. She was also very active in the
lives of her children and grandchildren serving as a Blue Bird and Brownie Scout
sponsor and attending many plays, recitals, sporting events, and contests
throughout their school years to see them perform. At various times she opened
her home to care for her grandchildren when needed. She was a wonderful
seamstress making many of her own clothes and mending for her family and
friends whenever needed. Minnie was also known to be a wonderful cook,
ensuring that her family and guests were always well taken care of. She was
preceded in death by her husband Billy R. Henline, parents Walter and Ruth
(Detrick) Stricker, and daughter-in-law Linda (Stenholm) Henline. Survivors
include her daughter Beverly Henline, son Robert (Leslie) Henline, daughter
Sandy (Myron) Huxman, six grandchildren (Tobie, Brandi, Casey, Andrea,
Kelsey, and Dustin) and ten great-grandchildren. Although she suffered from
health issues during her last years, she will be remembered as a loving,
considerate, and sweet optimist.
