Ralph W. Bubeck

Dr. Ralph Wendell Bubeck, 88, retired Physician with The Wichita Clinic, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on July 6, 2025. Ralph was born on August 27, 1936, into the farming family of Floyd and Agnes Bubeck in Clarion, Iowa. He had four brothers, Dale, Maurice, Mark, and Larry; and one sister, Lila May, who died as an infant.

As a youth, Ralph made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior, and with time, his faith matured. Ralph graduated in 1958 from Wheaton College in Illinois and in 1961, he married Pauline J. Mathis from Iowa. He graduated from Iowa University Medical School in 1962, and later they had three children, Craig, Brian, and Sheryl. Ralph continued his medical education in 1962 with one year of internship at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and then he was commissioned into the U.S. Public Health Indian Service as a 2nd Lieutenant and Sr. Assistant Surgeon for two years, 1963-1965, at the Papago Indian Hospital in Sells, Arizona. He then completed a three year Residency in Internal Medicine at the Wilmington Medical Center in Delaware. Ralph came to Wichita, Kansas in July of 1968, to join the multi-specialty group at The Wichita Clinic, until his retirement in 2004.

In addition to his practice of Internal Medicine, Ralph was involved in the Christian Medical and Dental Association. Because of his faith in God, he was involved in the First and East Evangelical Free Churches, serving as a teacher, Deacon/Elder, and Church Chairman. He also helped establish the Christian AWANAS boys and girls clubs at First and East Evangelical Free Churches. Ralph served on the board at Berean Academy while his children attended there. He believed in the value of Christian education. There were short -term mission trips to the Dominican Republic, Ukraine, and Louisiana.

Ralph especially enjoyed photography, and he took many photos at home and on his trips around the USA, Europe, and other countries. He also enjoyed woodworking projects as well as wood carving. In his retirement, he volunteered at the Good Samaritan Clinic and Wichita's Botanical Gardens.

In 2018, Ralph and his wife moved to Larksfield Place Retirement Community. Ralph is survived by his brother, Larry (Janean) Bubeck; his wife, Pauline, their three children and their spouses, and ten grandchildren. Craig and Kathi Bubeck's children are Benjamin, Aaron, Naomi, and Rachel. Brian F. and Phyllis Bubeck have two sons, William and Ralph Wyatt Bubeck. Sheryl and Keith Lathrom have three daughters, Charlotte, Kayla, and Andrea, and one son, Joel Lathrom. There have been 13 nieces and nephews.
