Randy Turner

Randolph "Randy" Kent Turner, 79, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by the love of his family.

Randy was the first born child to Keith and Anna Mae (Grigsby) Turner, born February 13th 1946. He was raised on a farm in Attica, Kansas, where he built the roots that shaped the man he became. He began his early education in a one room school house at 9 Cottonwood Valley, and later moved in the newly built school in town where he continued his education. He graduated from Attica High School in 1964. He was drafted in 1967 and proudly served in the United States Army for 3 years, qualifying as an expert rifleman. He was honorably discharged following a car accident while stationed overseas that left him in traction for 6 weeks in a foreign hospital-an experience that never dimmed his deep sense of duty or quiet strength. 

He married the love of his life, Judy Ann Poore on February 27th, 1971. Despite having 18 inches of snow that week, the wedding day was sunny and warm. They later welcomed 2 sons Bryan and Brad. 

Randy celebrated a re-birth on July 26th 1981 when he chose a life of sobriety from alcohol. He had 44years under his belt. Randy dedicated 37 years working for Cessna before retiring, only to quickly realize retirement didn't quite suit him. True to form, he returned to the workforce and spent 7 years at Hall, Industrial Services, eventually retiring for a second time-this time on his own terms.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, affectionately known as Grammy and Pa, and by his sister, Shelley Eck, and Shelley's son, Jason Eck.

Randy is survived by the love of his life- his wife of 54 years, Judy. He leaves behind his sons, Bryan (Starla) of Mayfield and Brad (Shannon) of Rose Hill, who carry forward his values, humor, and love of family. He was a proud grandfather to Kirsten (Zach), Josh, Tori, Marcy, and Jo, and an over-the-moon great-grandfather to Axel, Xander, and Jaxtyn, who brought him endless joy and pride. Also, survived by his little sister Kathy (Vernon) Dick of Rose Hill, Kansas. Along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. 

An avid hunter and devoted dog dad, Randy loved the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. He was also a devout Kansas City Chiefs fan-long before the Mahomes era- faithfully cheering through every heartbreak and triumph with the same loyalty he showed in all areas of his life. Above all, he was a loving husband, a dedicated father, and a cherished grandfather. Known as the family storyteller, Randy had a gift for turning memories into laughter, lessons, and moments that will be retold for generations. His stories, warmth, and steady presence were the glue that held his family close.

Randy's legacy lives on in the love he gave so freely, the stories he shared so generously, and the family he cherished so deeply. He will be missed beyond measure and remembered always.

Funeral service celebrating Randy's life will be at 10:30am, Saturday, January 10th, at Attica United Methodist Church in Attica, Kansas. Graveside committal service at the Attica Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral. After the committal, there will be a reception with food and drinks at the Attica Memorial building. All are welcome to attend and continue celebrating Randy's life.
