Rod B. Holt

Rod Holt of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on April 7, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on November 9, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas, Rod was the beloved son of Clarence and Shirley Holt.

Rod attended Southeast High School and graduated from Metro in Wichita. He then went on to build a life defined by hard work, resilience, and dedication to those he loved. Over the years, he worked in multiple entrepreneurial roles, including Rod's Trucking, Holt Hauling, and his second-hand store known as A Second Chance. Additionally, he worked at multiple trucking companies, Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, Spice Merchant, and, most recently, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. He was known for his strong work ethic and determination, never backing down from a challenge and always pushing forward with strength and grit.

In 1983, a long-term friendship culminated in a beautiful 43-year marriage with the love of his life, Sara. Together, they built a life full of time spent with family, sharing stories, and finding humor in everyday moments. No matter where he went, Rod brought energy, laughter, and a sense of familiarity that made people feel at ease. He never knew a stranger, and his ultimate goal in life was to make people smile.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence E. Holt, and his mother, Shirley L. Holt (Paxson). He is survived by his loving wife, Sara Holt (Smith); his children, Tiffany Weatherbee (Matt) and Jeremy Holt (Katie); and his cherished grandchildren, Madison Weatherbee (Carlos Pena), Dakota Weatherbee, Ethan Holt, Grayson Holt, and Lucy Holt. He is also survived by his sister, Delynn Fowler (Dave).

Rod was a devout Christian known for his playful spirit, making jokes, and often breaking into little dances just to bring laughter to those around him. Above all else, Rod loved his family deeply. He showed that love by being present—attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, school concerts and plays, graduations, and special dinners. These moments meant everything to him, and they are memories his family will hold close forever.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his love, humor, and the joy he brought into the lives of everyone who knew him.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 14th from 5:00–7:00 p.m., and the service will be held Wednesday, April 15th at 10:00 a.m., both at Broadway Mortuary.
