Sandy was born on July 31, 1941 in Hutchison, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Galen and Bernice Simons and a great-niece, Jesica Simons. Survivors include her brother, Gary and his wife, Shelda Simons of Prescott Valley, AZ; niece, Galene (Simons) and husband, Alan Boyett of Phoenix, AZ; nephews, Hal and wife, Iris Simons of Paola, KS and Gary and wife, Romi of Phoenix, AZ; 6 great nephews and nieces and 6 great-great nephews and nieces. Sandy and her family later moved to Wichita, KS where she graduated from East High School. After graduation, Sandy worked at Rounds and Porter Lumber Company and then worked for InTrust Bank until she retired from full-time employment.
Sandy called Wichita her home and lived in the same house for over 50 years. It was difficult for Sandy when she needed to move away from Wichita because of health issues, but her friendly and caring personality allowed her to impact others throughout the end of her life.
Sandy enjoyed several hobbies throughout her life, such as snow skiing, cross stitching, oil painting and various other crafts. She enjoyed watching sports of all kinds but was partial to her Chiefs and Royals.
Faith was always important to Sandy and she attended Asbury United Methodist Church as long as she was able to. She sang in the choir, participated in several Bible study groups and volunteered in the office. Sandy was small but mighty and was always ready to tell people that her strength came from God. That’s what we will remember most about her.
