Sherry Abraham-Morrow

Abraham-Morrow, Sherry Naifeh, died February 17, 2016. Viewing from 9:00-9:30 am with Trisagion and Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 20th at St. George Orthodox Christian Cathedral. Graveside Service will follow at Old Mission Cemetery. Sherry was born and raised in Woodward, OK. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Shortly after graduation, she married Don Abraham and moved to Wichita. They had two daughters, Candace and Ginger. Don and Sherry owned and operated Ali Baba Bakery for 19 years. The bakery specialized in pita bread, but eventually made over 100 different varieties of breads. She worked full time at the bakery with Don until he was diagnosed with cancer in 1994 and they sold the bakery. Sherry also worked on the weekends at Abe’s Steak House, a restaurant owned by Don’s family. Don passed away February 28, 1995. In November 2003, Sherry married Mark Morrow. Their blended family consists of two sons, three daughters, two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, five granddaughters and four grandsons. Mark and Sherry split their time between Wichita and Oklahoma City and were active in the Orthodox Christian Churches in both communities – St. George Cathedral in Wichita and St. Elijah Church in Oklahoma City. At St. George Cathedral, Sherry previously served as the overall chairman of the annual Lebanese dinner, and was the baklawa chairman for many years, perfecting the process of making enough baklawa to serve more than 5,500 people. She was active in the Antiochian Women organization serving in several positions including president. She was also former secretary of the St. George Cathedral Ladies Guild. For many years Sherry supported the efforts of Orthodox women by working on the Antiochian Women boards for the Diocese of Wichita and Mid-America (DOWAMA) board and the North American board. She was also a member of the Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch. Sherry made many lifelong friends throughout the United States while faithfully serving her church and God. In addition to Sherry’s church activities, she was a member of the Bona Dea Club, a ladies’ social club in Wichita, and served as president, vice president, and secretary of that group. She also volunteered at Music Theatre of Wichita and was a member of the Music Theatre Guild, previously holding positions as treasurer, assistant treasurer and chairman of the social committee. Sherry is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Abraham and her parents, Thomas and Lucille Naifeh. Survived by her devoted husband, Mark Morrow; siblings, Jacque (Sam) Kouri, Tom Naifeh; children, Candace (John) Thompson, Ginger (Michael) Ellis, all of Wichita, Marco (Meredith) Morrow and Michelle Morrow, all of Oklahoma City, Michael (Leah) Morrow of Longmeadow, Mass.; grandchildren, Elektra Thompson, Zoey and Brock Ellis of Wichita, Marlee, Mackenna and Mia Morrow of Oklahoma City, Andrew, Ryan and Jack Morrow of Longmeadow, Mass; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
