Shetal J. Bhakta known affectionately as Shaq or better as The People's Champion, passed away on May 26, 2024 in Wichita, KS. He was born on November 27, 1979 in Merced, CA. He was cherished as a beloved son, brother, and uncle.
He was a graduate of Wichita State University with a degree in education, where he taught in USD 259 with Anderson Elementary, Hamilton Middle School, and Marshall Middle School. He later went on to be an entrepreneur and became owner of Champs Bar & Grill.
He was a fan of all sports, with football, basketball, golf, and poker (And yes, as he was always quick to let people know--poker was a sport) were amongst his favorites. Nothing topped his love for HIS Kansas City Chiefs.
He was also a passionate advocate for the Kidney Foundation, as he himself faced renal disease.
He was a dedicated uncle to his neices and nephews. Shaq genuinely loved spending time with these kids and it was a very happy place for him. Traveling to games whether locally or across states, from volleyball to basketball to soccer, he made it a priority to be there for all the games.
He is survived by his parents, father: Jayantibhai Nathubhai Bhakta (Syadla) Wichita, KS, mother: Late Manjulaben Durlabbhai (Orna) and Sunandaben Jayantibhai Bhakta (Padgha)
Brother and Sister-in-Law: Hamendra and Neelam, Chetan and Amisha, Daniel and Khyati
Sisters and Brother-in-law: Vandna and Tejal & Vishal
Nieces and Nephews: Krishna, Kesav, Armaan, Aahn, Rehaan, Rihanna, Mia, Leela, and Aahliya
Shaq will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
