Sonja Chiles

Chiles, Sonja Maria (Bosin), 81, of Wichita, formally of Salina, passed away peacefully surrounded by those that loved and cared for her at the home of her Daughter Janet Louise Chiles in Wichita on Sunday January 7th, 2017. She was born April 29th, 1935, to Stiefvater Heinrich Deissler and Maria Louise Bosin Deissler in Frankfurt, Germany. Sonja married Dean LeRoy Chiles on July 6th, 1959. He preceded her in death November 11th, 2014. To this union three children were born; daughter, Janet Louise; and sons, Robert Lawrence and Tony Lee. She traveled the world by her husband’s side as a loving military wife settling down in his home state of Kansas where she would go to work at Tony’s Pizza Service in Salina retiring from there after twenty plus years of service. In retirement she dedicated herself to her gardening, family and especially watching all her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren grow up loving and spoiling each one as much as she could. Of all things sports became an obsession late in life for her and she became an avid fan of the KC Royals, Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas State Wildcats and the KC Chiefs whom she finally got to see this year win the AFC West title and make the playoffs. She was a two time cancer survivor who loved all and cared about everything. She lived each day God gave her to its fullest knowing it could always be her last. She is survived by: daughter, Janet Chiles of Wichita; sons Peter Bosin of Frankfurt, Germany, Robert (Laurie) of Salina; brothers Helmut and Rudy Deissler of Frankfurt, Germany; grandchildren, Alisha Keck (Jon), Nicole Ware (Donnie), Brian Garcia (Jill), Christopher Chiles (Elisabeth), Mitchell Chiles (Janae) and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Stiefvater H. and Maria L. Deissler; husband; Dean LeRoy Chiles in 2014 and son; Tony Lee Chiles in 2008. Memorials may be made to: Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice 313 S. Market St. Wichita, Kansas 67202. Sonja will be cremated and the cremated remains will be joined with her husband of 57 years Dean LeRoy. A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at Broadway Mortuary in Wichita, KS. Burial will take place at the Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina, KS on Thursday July 6, 2017.
