Susan Ann (Strobl) Burrus

Susan Ann Burrus, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on June 29, 2025, at the age of 60, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and deep love.

Susan was born on September 10, 1964, in Great Bend, Kansas. After graduating from Ellinwood High School, she earned an associate degree from Wichita State University, where she was actively involved with the Delta Gamma sorority. Upon graduation, she went to work as a legal assistant for Lee Woodard.

On July 26, 1986, she married Brian Burrus, the love of her life, whom she affectionately referred to as her hero. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising three sons: Ben, Mark, and Patrick. Susan cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, embracing every moment spent with her sons and their families. Time spent with her granddaughters, Blair and Margot, brought her immeasurable joy.

After raising her boys, Susan held positions at Logo Depot and Pioneer Balloon. Most recently, she was a Senior Account Technician at IMA.

Susan’s warm smile and infectious laughter could light up any room. She was a gracious hostess and loved entertaining friends and family. Her impressive cookie trays, beautiful table settings, and attention to detail made every occasion feel special.

Brian and Susan enjoyed traveling and were drawn to warm climates and sandy beaches. They traveled to Jamaica many times, often accompanied by a circle of close friends. While it wasn’t the ocean, they also enjoyed time at the Lake of the Ozarks. Susan made unforgettable memories at the annual Burrus family lake trip.

In 2016 Brian and Susan purchased a home at the Lake of the Ozarks and began a labor of love. They completed a total renovation of the house, resulting in a cozy and inviting lakeside retreat. Susan referred to it as her “happy place.”

Deeply rooted in her faith, Susan remained a devoted Catholic and a member of Church of the Resurrection Parish throughout her life. This commitment shaped not only her values but also those of her family, creating a legacy of connection and spirituality.

Susan leaves behind her loving husband, Brian; her three beloved sons, Ben, Mark, and Patrick; daughters-in-law, Monica and Emily; and her precious granddaughters, Blair and Margot. She is also remembered fondly by her brother, Scott Strobl and sister, Laura (Strobl) Schaffer.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Mike” Strobl and Jean Strobl. As we celebrate her extraordinary life, let us remember the light she brought to those she loved and the countless ways she made each day brighter.
