Stephens, Terry Sue Carthrae, was born, the second daughter, to Stewart and Marion (Wells) Carthrae on September 8, 1951 in Hardtner, KS. Terry began her education in a one-room country school house in Aetna, KS. She graduated from Kiowa High School in 1969. She then attended Wichita State University, and continued her education at Washburn University School of Law, where she graduated in 1990. She married Richard Stephens in 1976. Together they have two children, Sarah (JJ) Selmon and Michael Stephens. She was the beloved sister of Glenda (Ron) Sibley, Rita (Russel) Graves, Kathryn (Bud) Winters, and brother Hal (Debbie) Ecksten. She attended Morningstar Community Church where she was an AWANA leader for many years. Terry worked at Sedgwick County District Court as a deputee court trustee. Terry spent her time giving and caring for others, including her cherished grandchildren, Kingston, Sylvia, Oliver, Luther, and Cash, as well as her nieces and nephews. “Queenie” also enjoyed much anticipated trips with her sisters, creating much loved family stories, after which, her extended family enjoyed listening to her detail the mishaps and joy had by all. She loved her Savior with all her heart, soul, and mind; and loved her neighbor as herself. Family was everything to her. Words cannot adequately express the truly incredible person Terry was, and space will not permit the listing of the numerous lives that were brightened, guided, directed, changed, and greater because of Terry. Terry is reunited today with her parents and infant brother. Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Friday at Morningstar Community Church with burial following at 3:30 pm at the Hardtner Cemetery in Hardtner, KS.
