Thanh Van Ho, 68, passed away on April 30, 2022. He was born in Da Nang, Vietnam on October 9, 1953 as the 8th child of 9 in the family.
Since emigrating from Vietnam in the 70s, fleeing the Vietnam War, Thanh found work in various cities and eventually landed in Wichita, KS. There, he met Thuy Pham and together raised 4 children. Thanh lived a simple and frugal life. He did not want much but food in our bellies and a roof over our heads. After many years of saving and establishing a life in the U.S., he was able to sponsor his son from Vietnam to the states.
Thanh’s main hobby was fishing and anything surrounding that. He spent many days camping, boating, and traveling to the best fishing spots in the Midwest. He also claimed that “cigarettes were [his] best friends.” He spent years at various companies until eventually retiring in 2019. Thanh spent most of his retirement fishing and spending time with his family.
Thanh is preceded in death by his parents, some siblings, and his son, Binh Ho.
He is survived by his wife, Thuy Pham. Children: Tuan Pham and wife, Thuan Pham; Kathy Pham and husband, Joey Lynes; Kelly Pham and Dustin Sorensen; Dat Pham and wife, Beverly Pham. Grandchildren: Austin Nguyen, Huy Gia Ho, Tony Pham, Han Gia Ho, Trinity Pham, Trina Pham, Hao Gia Ho, Troy Pham, Amily Lynes, and Leila Pham. Siblings: Em Thi Ho, Dung Van Ho, and Ut Thi Ho.
Family kindly requests in lieu of flowers, or any monetary donations will be accepted in honor of Thanh to various Wichita-area Buddhist temples.
