Thurman Eccleston

Eccleston, Thurman Olen, was born March 29, 1920 to JB and Maude Eccleston and passed away April 26, 2017. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017 at NorthWest Christian Church, 10850 W. 21st St., Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Onis; his seven siblings, Ed, Martha, Wilma, Vivian, Eula, Orville, and Aaron; as well as great-grandson, Dane Morris. He is survived by four children, Olen (Denise) of Wichita, Sharlet Morrison of Wichita, Jason of Phoenix, AZ, and Mark of Wichita; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He attended country school then graduated from Fowler High School. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Palawan then returned to his family and a life of farming in Gray County, KS. He and Onis moved to Hot Springs Village, AR in the late 70's, then to Wichita, KS in 2002 to be near family. Thurman loved and served the Lord and was actively involved in churches where he lived. He was a family man, but made time to enjoy horseshoe pitching and bowling. A contented and happy man, he made many friends wherever he went and will be greatly missed.
