Tray Dorsett

     After a 4 year battle with Stage 4 cancer, Tray Dorsett passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025. Born December 7, 1959 to loving parents Albert and Bessie, joining older brother Rockie. Tray was well loved growing up at home, as well as on his street. The 3500 block of Handley was filled with loving families, and the perfect village for young Tray. This would be the family’s home for over 60 years. Tray enjoyed being social at school and easily made friends at Sim, Ingalls, Enterprise, Truesdell, and then graduated from South High School in 1978. Tray could be found all over the south end, first on his yellow 10-speed, then his first car, a yellow 77 Chevy Luv.

      Always physically active, Tray played youth basketball, pickup games of football, baseball, pickleball, tennis, water and snow skiing, archery, and even bullriding. Tray never shied away from work, and started early helping brother Rockie sometimes deliver ice. At age 14, Tray worked the entire summer as a cabin counselor at Camp Wood. He loved this job, and was even able to get best buddies Don and Bob work there! Tray loved water and could regularly be found at Aley or Osage Pools, then later the many lakes with friends. 

     After working various jobs like starting a lawn mowing business and doing various rodeos, Tray began working for Pepsi Cola in facility maintenance in 1982. He worked there for 17 years, and then transitioned to working from Brand Plumbing. He met his wife, Kelley, in 1989. They were married in 1993, becoming a family of four with his two daughters, Shanna and Kodie. Three years later, they welcomed daughter Sarah in 1996. 

     Tray knew how to fix anything, and became the go-to guy for everyone around him. Family, neighbors, and friends would always come to him first whenever they needed help around the house, mowing, or fixing anything. He passed down his knowledge to his daughters, who are forever grateful to know how to plunge a toilet or fix a sink. Out of all of his accomplishments in life, his greatest were his six grandchildren: Stockton Long, Riggin Long, Adley Long, Baker Cusick, Hazel Cusick, and Willa Cusick. 

     He is preceded in death by parents, Al and Bessie Dorsett, brother, Rockie Dorsett, and wife, Kelley. He is survived by daughters, Shanna (Chris Estes) Dorsett, Kodie Dorsett, and Sarah (Houston) Cusick, and grandchildren Stockton, Riggin, and Adley Long and Baker, Hazel, and Willa Cusick, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
