Verta Johnson

Verta Mae Johnson, 81, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, January 5, 2023. Verta was born April 18, 1941 in Greenwood, MS to Attaway and Ruby Johnson, Sr., both who have preceded her in death. Her son, Jessie Davis, Sr., her infant daughter, Baby Girl Davis; brother, Attaway "June" Johnson, Jr. and sisters, Augusta Jones, Cleola Eiland, Ruby Tate and Ella Johnson also preceded her in death. Verta Mae is survived by her sons, Willie Watson, Charles Watson and Rickie Davis; daughters, Trenna Faye Davis, Cynthia Davis, Angela Dawson, Jeanette Davis, Shamika Davis and husband, M. Mentes, 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Betty Johnson, Catherine Johnson, Willie Lee Johnson, LeRoy Johnson and Ben Edward Johnson also survive her. Verta retired from Manor Care Nursing Home as a CNA after many decades of dedicated service.
