Virginia F. Hess

Virginia F. (Christy) Hess, 88, was born on September 10, 1935, in Redfield, KS, to Edwin E. Christy, Sr. and Edith Alice (Hartman) Christy. She married Norman L. Hess, Sr. of the same Kansas town, on December 6, 1951. She was a housewife and mother for many years, and also worked as a cook at various cafes and nursing homes, along with a nineteen year stint as a stock room clerk with Beechcraft.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Norman Hess, Jr.; brother, Edwin Christy, Jr.; sisters, Beatrice Christy, Carol Christy, and Donna Hall; grandsons, John R. Grimm and Gary Govern; and son-in-laws, Steve Grimm and Dave Govern. Survivors include her daughters, Deloris J. Grimm and Deborah L. Govern; grandchildren, Travis Govern, Edwin Grimm, Amanda Sedita (Steve), Shawn Govern (Melinda), Davida Canter, and Daniel Govern; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Gamble, Korey Govern, Brody Govern, Kristan Grimm, Evelyn Sedita, Heather Gardner, Alexa Gillian, Amanda Nash, Tiffany Chadwick, and Candace Govern; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

A time of visitation with family present will be held on Wednesday, January 10, from 6-8 pm, and a Celebration of Life Service, 10 am, Thursday, January 11, both at Broadway Mortuary, 1147 S. Broadway. Share condolences at www.cozine.com. Services by Cozine Memorial Group-Broadway Mortuary.
