Wayne Merton Wells

Wayne Merton Wells, son of Merton Wells and Mable Elvira Herker Wells, was born in Camden County, about seven miles north of Richland, Missouri on July 25, 1933 and departed his earthly life on November 1, 2026 in Tucson, Arizona.

At the age of fourteen he professed his faith in Jesus Christ, and at the age of seventeen he felt called to the ministry. However, he delayed preparation for several years. When he did attempt to prepare, through a series of events, he realized he was not called to the ministry as a pastor or evangelist, but was called to be an "abider by the stuff". He fulfilled this calling to the best of his ability by supporting various Christian ministries, sharing his own life lessons with Jesus Christ, quick to share the Word or prayer with others, discipling those who walked through his door whether strangers or family members or friends. This continued through to the very end in the various facilities he was in. One could not be near him without knowing his love for his Savior and his love for the one he was talking to.

On February 3, 1953 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Huddleston of Crocker, Missouri. To this union were bore two sons, Kenneth Wayne and Bradley Alan, and one daughter Beth Ann.

In January, 1969, this marriage was dissolved by divorce. The Lord, knowing it would be very difficult for him to rear three children by himself, brought daughter Beth Ann's Sunday School teacher, Judy, into his life in April, 1969. On July 3, 1969, he was united in marriage to Judith (Judy) Irene Pointer, who became an instant loving mother to his children, loving them and caring for them as if they were her own, always setting a Christian example and teaching them according to the Scripture.

In 1972, through adoption, the Lord brought into the family a son, Andrew Phillip. Then in 1973, He brought a daughter, Sharon Joanna. Then in 1978, another son, Jason Timothy.

Wayne served his country as a Korean Veteran on active duty from July 24, 1953 to May 20, 1955, with approximately sixteen months of that period serving in Germany.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Mable, a sister, Wanda Darlene, who died in infancy, 3 sisters, Alice, Leota and Sharon, his beloved wife of 47 yrs Judy, and his son Bradley Alan.
