William Bussey

William Ray “Red" Bussey , 89, died February 12, 2018 in Wichita, KS. He was a 2-war veteran, golfer, world traveler, master griller, beer drinker, dancer, jokester, 6-time husband, country music lover, John Wayne fan, and friend to everyone he met. He worked as a grocery store manager for over 60 years and was everyone’s favorite boss. Red’s signature wink and smile livened every conversation with him, no matter the topic. He loved laughing with the people in his life, and could make everyone feel they were his favorite. Red was preceded in death by his parents, Collier and Docia Bussey; brothers, Bryce Bussey, Jay Bussey and Carl Bussey, Jr.; sisters, Arnelle Nix and Emme Ruth Bennett. He is survived by his daughters, Janet (Bobby) Palmer of Fort Payne, AL, Debi (Peter) Abood of Wichita and Norma (Charlie) Newgent of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Jay Newgent, Meaghan (Jeremy) Koci, Bryce Abood, Nathan Palmer and Max Abood; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Aliza. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Central Christian Church.
