Charles R. “Charlie" Swyers, 84, loving husband, father and grandfather, died Thursday, May 27, 2021. A Rosary will be held at 5:30 pm, Tuesday, June 1, with the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 2, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.  Charlie was born on November 26, 1936 in Sugar Creek, Pennsylvania to Bert and Violet Swyers. A few years later, the family moved to Independence, Kansas where he spent the remainder of his childhood.  Charlie attended the University of Kansas, and following a brief stint in the Army, graduated from Washburn University.

In 1961 Charlie and his wife Evelyn moved to Wichita, where he began his career at Koch Industries.  His career there would last 33 years until his retirement in 1994, at which time he was the Executive Vice President of Koch Refining Company.  His main passion in life was his family.  He loved watching his kids and grandkids participate in all of their activities.  He loved spending time with his family in Keystone, Colorado.  When he wasn’t with his family you could find Charlie watching his beloved Jayhawks and Cincinnati Reds.

He is survived by his sons, Scott (Jackie) Swyers and Chris (Katie) Swyers, all of Wichita; grandchildren, Taylor and Davis Swyers and Charlie and Sam Swyers; and brother, Bill (Tina) Swyers of Independence, KS.
