I remember meeting Doug and his family while I was a young teen at NTM Missouri and then my parents got their prayer card and prayed for the Schaibles for many years after that. This year we got reacquainted through a Perspectives class in NE and since then I’ve been going through Doug’s podcasts all summer and teaching them to my kids this fall. Thank you for sharing your husband/dad/grandpa as he spent time teaching and mobilizing. We will forever have the “free range podcaster” as a familiar voice in our memory.

I worked with Doug in Mobilization for Ethnos360 (New Tribes Mission) for many years. I served on the Mobilization Oversight Team and I remember when Doug and Cheryl came off the Mission Field of Papua New Guinea and we added them to our Mobilization Team. Little did we know what we were getting. Doug became a dynamo in mobilization - he was the "tireless energizer bunny" for sure - let alone extremely effective. His travels all around our country to college campuses to challenge for missions were without comparison - he loved being on campus and exposing young men and women to the Cause of Christ among the unreached! His heart for reaching the still unreached people groups of the world was extremely evident. He loved sharing his desire to see the whole world reached the Good News of Jesus! As a Mission Organization we were very blessed to have Doug on our team. Many of us wish we could be at his Memorial Service today but can't be there but we will be remembering him especially today and his family! Cheryl and family - thank you for sharing him in the last many years and allowing him to travel and do the things he did for the Lord. God will reward him greatly and you too for your part in his ministry! Thank you Doug and we will miss you in so many different ways!

My wife Becky and I have so many memories of Doug as he filled the role of camp missionary at Whispering Winds Bible Camp. His record water slide run, his telling of "Jonah" in Pigeon English, His memory of beating Sox & Martin in a drag race, and there is many others. Doug's genuine friendliness, and his unquestioned love for Jesus and easy manner were all such a blessing. He has been an encouragement to us for many years. Our sincere desire for comfort to you his family and other friends. I am crying as I type this, but I also know without a doubt that he is with our Savior Jesus Christ, and many others will be in heaven as a result of his life of service.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I remember being friends with Doug at WSU. He was a great guy, and told me interesting stories of being on the crew for the Patterson NHRA national champion drag racing car. A cheerful positive man, who was always kind.

Cheryl and kids,
I want to say how sorry I am for the loss of your precious Husband/Dad. I was taken by emotion when I heard the news. Life is so frail, but Doug reminded us often, when we live for Jesus, we have no regrets. He was a tremendous friend to me, and I’m so blessed to have seen him last year, staying together at Ethnos Bible School in Waukesha. We reminisced about Bootcamp in Mississippi, and caught up on families. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
