Pat Alkire, 88, was born December 9, 1933 in Stroud, OK, later moving to Geneseo, KS and attending High School with siblings Donna and Larry. Next, he attended Fort Hays and KU, where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Pat was drafted into the Army in 1956 and for two years, he served as a Medic in Korea. After being discharged, he moved to Wichita to start his life-long career as a Pharmacist. For many years, Pat worked at Skaggs Pharmacy and Osco Drug. He marred his first wife, DeeAnna Boltjes and they had four children - Laurel, Melanie, Michael and Heather. In 2010, he married Charlotte Harris, who died in 2018. Shortly after, Pat moved to Via Christi Ascension Village. Pat enjoyed baseball and loved to support his Jayhawks in basketball. He had a great sense of humor and was known to say "don't take wooden nickels." Pat grew up in a very humble, conservative family, was taught the value of a dollar; he worked all of his life to earn and save money. Pat rarely travelled, but he followed his grandkids everywhere for their events, dance classes, swimming lessons, and special moments. If you asked Pat how he was doing, he would always say: "I am fine" even if he wasn't feeling well. Pat was a blessing to his friends and family.
